Matt Estabrook
Bio
Matt Estabrook is a saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, and educator based in New York City. Originally from Falmouth, Maine, Matt has been playing music since he could speak. He quickly became a notable figure in the Maine music scene, earning multiple Outstanding Musicianship Awards at the Maine State Jazz Festival in both middle school and high school. His love of music led him to Boston, where he studied with the legendary Jerry Bergonzi at the New England Conservatory of Music. He quickly rose to prominence in the New England Jazz scene, performing with legends such as Dave Holland and Miguel Zenon, and performing with his own band at venues at the Lilypad and Wally's. His career has taken him around the world as a performer, educator, and multi-instrumentalist, playing at international Jazz festivals and sharing the stage with legendary acts such as Taylor Dane and Earth, Wind, & Fire.

Performer
A high-caliber performer and composer, Matt has made a name for himself across the northeast, playing at legendary venues such as the Lilypad in Boston, the Bowery Electric in New York City, and Jojo's in Washington, DC. He has been featured in major festivals across the world such as the Panamá Jazz Festival and the Jazz Education Network conference. Matt has a deep knowledge of Jazz standards, modern pop hits, and world music. Matt composes his own music as well, within genres ranging from avant-garde jazz to indie rock.

Educator
Matt is proud advocate of the "Pass it on" mantra in Jazz. He has proudly served as a public school teacher in Boston, MA, Washington, DC, and New York, NY. At the SEED School of Washington, DC, he founded and directed the first jazz ensemble in the school's history. Matt holds a B.M. in Jazz Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music, a B.S. in Cognitive & Brain Science from Tufts University, and an Ed.M in Human Development and Arts & Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He has studied with Jerry Bergonzi, Miguel Zenon, Jason Moran, Donny McCaslin, and Ralph Bowen. He currently teaches saxophone lessons and aural skills at Rutgers University, where he is earning his second master's degree.
